Life is hard for the poor of Nairobi, especially when there is no clean drinking water or perhaps no water at all. Medical care is spotty or non-existent, and preventable diseases –- malaria and HIV/AIDS, among others -- claim lives all too often. And when it comes to food, a meal is more like a special occasion than a regular daily event. How can Christians preach the gospel in these bleak living conditions?
Hope Partnership seeks to be holistic in its approach to drawing people to Jesus Christ and His church. One strategy that is being used successfully in many countries is Community Health Evangelism (CHE, pronounced “chay”), which seeks to transform individual lives physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually, with the goal of transformation for the entire community.
